I wasn't especially excited about the new Ninja Turtles movie that's coming out.  I didn't even hear about it until pretty recently.  But the more I think about it, the more I like the idea.  My generation, we grew up on Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.  I watched the cartoon, played with the action figures, saw the movies (all three of them, yes even the mediocre third one), played the video games, and my childhood friends played Ninja Turtle tag (the only difference from regular tag is that the person who's 'it' gets a bad guy name like Shredder).  As much as anything, TMNT embodiment of my childhood.

So I'm pretty excited to see it in theaters again.  It seems like the turtles story is going to become one of the defining myths of American pop culture, sort of like fairy tales or fables or other stories told to children in the past.  And that, I think, is a good thing.  Anyway, here's a link to some turtles related humor: http://www.xkcd.com/c197.html

It feels so very good to be lifting regularly again.  I'm not nearly in the shape I was in high school, but I don't have that kind of time either.  And by that kind of time, I mean two hours every weekday with a coach screaming in my ear to do more pushups or run faster.  I kind of miss that actually.  Drawing again.  Hope it goes well.  Fuck school.  I should've majored in history and art and spent my time drawing comics online.

My CEE 102 prof:

On partnerships:

"You dohn't file an 80 pg. partnership agreement if you're just going to open a coffee cart outside of K-Mart.  Although one of my clients did and lost 300,000 dollars."

On Pac Bell Park area:

"It used to be, in my days, Skid Row.  You wouldn't go down there unless you were shopping for heroin."

On risks in the restaurant business:

"What happens if your chef is a crack addict and your food's lousy."

So I realized I haven't posted in a long time.  Not like I have anything to say anyway.  I was in class today and I realized that graduate students can be really dumb.  We were doing this computer analysis, using a program on the unix machines in Sweet Hall.  Some of it was kind of complicated, but it was relativlely straight forward and we had pretty good directions.  But some of the grads had the toughest time figuring out the simplest things.  It really does lower my intimidatedness being in that class.

On a completely unrelated point, 2 fuzzy classes is turning out to be a lot of work.  Since I'm genuinely interested in both of them and especially in one, I find it very difficult to skip the any of the reading with the same utter disdain that I reserved for IHUM and PWR.  Hence, a lot of work.

I should never drink two cups of coffee, even to stay awake in class.  It is 4:30 and I can't sleep.  Gotta keep trying...
